Tafadzwa is the grandson of first-generation artist Gabriel Tandi and the son of Thomas Tandi, a second-generation artist. Tafadzwa started carving at the age of nine during his school holidays. He used to see his father talking to the stones almost every day. When his father discovered his talent, he taught him the language of stone. At ten, Tafadzwa could speak the same language with stones, creating some remarkable pieces. He began fully active in carving in 1997. He moved to Harare in 1998 and joined the Chitugwiza Art Centre, where he is an active member. His work is bold, daring, and attractive, and he has exhibited in some parts of Europe, Asia, America, and Canada.
